Thank you to everyone who submitted news – we truly appreciate hearing about the amazing things happening in your lives! In September 2024, Kingi Carpenter received the Havergal Old Girls Lifetime Achievement Award for her impact on fashion and social responsibility. A big congratulations from your classmates on this well-deserved honour! Anna Martin divides her time between Belgium and Kenya, where she started an education program for very needy families – 34 students to date. She has two daughters: one recently married, and the other a musician and songwriter. Matina Emblin Massa is still living in Malta and is opening a hotel later this year. She welcomes visitors!

Tiana Koffler Boyman continues her work with Koffler Arts, promoting contemporary arts both nationally and internationally. She invites the Havergal community to visit the gallery in downtown Toronto. Tiana is also a member of the Canadian Masters Alpine Ski Team and proudly brought home a silver medal from the Winter World Masters Games in Italy, 2024! Charlotte Gregory has retired from practicing law and now spends her time with her husband on the lawn bowling pitch. Mary Metcalfe Muir divides her time between London, England and Collingwood, Ontario, visiting her two daughters.

Many of our classmates have recently welcomed new grandchildren, and some will become grandparents for the first time in 2025! I hear they are tremendous fun. Next year marks our 45th reunion – we’re open to ideas for getting together and will keep you posted! Tiana Koffler Boyman – Celebrating over 25 years of supporting the arts in Canada through the work of Koffler Arts! I’m proud to share that the gallery has expanded its exhibition space and programming downtown, and I hope to see members of the Havergal community there. As past Chair and current Board Member, I continue to contribute to our strategic vision – fostering contemporary arts and the power of cross-cultural experiences, both nationally and internationally. I also serve as a juror for the Founder’s Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. The arts – and speed – are true passions of mine. I’m honoured to be a member of the Canadian Masters Alpine Ski Team and to have earned a silver medal at the 2024 Winter World Masters Games in Italy. I’m also a proud Bubby to our grandson, with another grandbaby on the way! Life is busy with family – four sons, their lives, their wives, and their girlfriends!

Leslie Dennis – I recently retired from real estate after a very successful 33-year career. I’ve launched a new business called Leash & Lens, combining the things I love most: dog walking, doggy daycare, and photography. I couldn’t be happier! I also recently took on a new title – Gram/Grammy – as my daughter had a baby girl in March. Wow, what fun and joy! We’re also celebrating a wedding in November – my son’s. My dad just turned 90 and is doing well. My mom, at 89, is still golfing, playing cards, and keeping busy with her social life. I’m feeling incredibly lucky and grateful. Cheers to everyone!

Many classmates were too busy working, retiring, volunteering, or traveling to write in – so we send our best to all! Annette Buchman Mincer, now semi-retired, is still full steam ahead with volunteer work supporting PTSD victims of the October 7th attacks in Israel, feeding Alzheimer’s patients at Baycrest, and coordinating meal deliveries for breast cancer patients at Princess Margaret. With all four kids married, she’s now awaiting her 8th grandchild! Kudos to Lisa Grogan Green, who earned two major honors: the Meritorious Service Cross from the Governor General and the King Charles III Coronation Medal, recognizing her work founding Go Green Youth Centre and Go for It Youth Organization – empowering youth in Thorncliffe and Flemingdon Park. Julie DiLorenzo was named CIBPA’s 2025 Woman of the Year. She’s using her project management skills to help build a 95-unit retirement home for the homeless with Good Shepherd Refuge.

After 40 years in Oxford, Valerie Gossage Crook is back in Toronto and already active, coordinating volunteers for the federal election and reconnecting with old friends. Dinnie Hogarth Baker and Jeanne DesBrisay travelled all the way to Brazil to catch up at a wedding. Jeanne splits her time between her cottage and Toronto, where she keeps close ties with Havergal pals like Missy Morlock, Cathy Matthews, Ginny Heffernan, and Jen Thoman. Kathy Richardson has made a full recovery from her 2024 injury and can’t wait to get back on the golf course! Leanne Foster is in her second year as Principal at UTS. Gillian Johnston says hi to everyone. Peggy Milne is keeping busy volunteering at Hospice Simcoe and RVH in Barrie – and is excited for her daughter’s wedding this June.

Anne Langford Dotsikas had a blast celebrating various classmates turning 60 last year but will admit she is glad the hoopla is finished and we can now go on with our usual everyday shenanigans and being forever 18 in our heads.

Graydon Moffat – Life continues to be a double juggle: building a brand (Graydon Skincare), managing the care of my elderly mother, and launching a digital magazine called Mindful Beauty. I’m especially excited that my son Julian has found his path – he’s working in the NWT and Yukon, supporting the bioresource engineering needs of Indigenous communities. That said, my rescue dogs, Odin and Elf, are benefiting from even more of my attention and affection than usual. I’ve always loved to cook, so they’re enjoying home-cooked meals and treats made just for them. Plans for my 60th year include more road-tripping avec mes chiens in my VW Bug, visiting Julian in the far north to go glacier hunting, and finding fun and joy in the ordinary – because with age, making memories feels more important than ever.

On a social note, it’s always a treat when OG paths cross. There’s nothing better than longtime (not old!) friends. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed running into classmates like Jennifer Dolman (fun fact: we’re also sorority sisters), Helene Clarkson (I wear something from her clothing line literally every day), Sheena Robertson (she knows I work too much and is amazing at getting me out the door), and Gill Deacon – because her band, The Circumstantialists, is awesome and I love seeing them play live.

Jennifer Dolman – It was wonderful to celebrate our year’s 40th reunion last fall and to catch up with so many classmates. In addition to practicing law (now in my 35th year) at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto, I’m passionate about governance and board work. I serve on the University of Toronto Alumni Association’s Board of Directors as VP, Governance, and chair the University’s College of Electors, which appoints alumni governors to the Governing Council. I recently completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program and was honoured to be our class valedictorian. I continue to play a lot of tennis (still singles!), love attending plays and concerts, and read as much as I can – I’m a member of the Toronto Public Library Foundation’s Literary Circle Committee. Last summer, my husband Paul and I hiked from town to town through the beautiful Cinque Terre in Italy; this summer, we’ll be hiking in Spain. With all three kids now in their 20s, we’re empty nesters most of the time. Harris sells rare books and first editions in the UK and recently launched his own business (hjlbooks.com), Sasha is associate faculty at Lakefield College School, and Abby is studying at McGill.

Stephanie Phelps has moved in with her boyfriend and his two older boys. They bought a house near Bloor Street and Royal York in Toronto. She’s still skiing, enjoying the cottage, and getting away whenever she can! Elizabeth Henry Walford has been busy running Walford Partners, a marketing consulting firm she co-founded with two partners over six and a half years ago, while also teaching at Seneca College. Her son Matthew graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of Guelph in 2025, and her son Patrick is studying Economics and Business at St. Lawrence University, where he also plays varsity squash. Elizabeth enjoys catching up with classmates over coffee, brunch, and spinning.

Cathy Milne recently made the move out of Toronto to Thornbury, just outside of Collingwood. She still runs her employment law practice in the city, commuting down three days a week. Her winters are spent skiing (often with many fellow ’85-ers), and summers are enjoyed boating on Georgian Bay. Deanne Maw Counter – It’s been a busy and exciting year! My two eldest daughters got married just months apart – Carling in Mississauga in April, and Kaia in Port Sydney in July. My youngest, Kelsey, is doing her Master’s in bioarchaeology in Bournemouth, England. I was lucky enough to visit her for a week and explore some of my family’s ancestral towns while there. In between all the celebrations, I spent my summer at my favourite place – my cottage in Muskoka.

Jackie Matear – Still living in London (UK), still travelling as much as my annual leave will allow (Ghana earlier this year, with more adventures to come), still doing lots of walking and hiking both near London and farther afield, and still playing with various cameras (@landscape_lassie)… so, same old, same old! I caught up with Cathy McKeever, Deanne Maw Counter, Elizabeth Kan, and Kate McGowan when I was in Toronto for Christmas. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the rest of the Class of ’85 at our 40th reunion this autumn! Cheri Grogan – It has been a great year, both professionally and personally! I continue to love my role as Head of School at Newton’s Grove School – but more importantly, I got married! We had a beautiful wedding in Nevis with our four children ❤️.

Angela Meharg recently checked off a decades-old bucket list item: joining a cycling tour and riding 3,770 km from Paris to Istanbul. She was hooked! Since then, she has participated in several gravel bike races, with distances ranging from 68 to 170 km. Krista Sutton has been busy working on multiple comedy series for television, developing a new musical, and creating visual art through her studio, Sutton Moon, which she co-runs with her partner, Laura (Moon). The studio is based in Toronto, with a second location opening soon in a renovated barn in Goderich. Krista recently completed a commission for Havergal College, and her work – often featuring ink on paper – continues to evolve. Her daughter, Kingsley, will begin Middle School at HC this fall, while her son, Jones, is entering his final year at RSGC. Lillian Tang Smith is now a proud restaurant owner in Sarnia, having repurchased the family business her parents originally sold in 1990. If you’re ever in southwestern Ontario, be sure to stop by Tang’s China House – she’d love to reconnect with fellow Old Girls!

Nicole Petrov – I’m continuing to work at the University of Guelph in Student Wellness, as well as with the College of Physicians and Surgeons. My husband Mark is still working as a rural family physician. Our daughter, Paige, has been married for three years and works as a speech and language pathologist with the school board. Our son, Liam, is a mechanical engineer focusing on healthcare facility upgrades and long-term care. No grandchildren yet – but we do care for our grand-doggie, Juno, a rescue Corgi. All is good in Fergus! Tanya White – While I continue to enjoy life in Austin, traveling to new destinations and seeking out big experiences has been the priority. In addition to cruising the fjords of Norway and scuba diving in the Maldives, Sarah White and I met up in Rome. The most fun? Our e-bike and Vespa tours – we’ve explored the entire city together. Those HC friendships really are the best!

Julie McAlpine-Jeffries – One of my girls is now in the workforce! Another is about to start her PhD in Mathematics at the Institute for Quantum Computing (Waterloo), one is heading into her final year at McGill, and the youngest is entering her final year at Northern. I just returned from a trip to Cancun with Mona Nandy, Andrea Heinmaa Herrmann, Nicola MacIntyre, and Raghad Zaiyouna. This summer, I’ll be paddling the Thomsen River – Canada’s most northerly paddleable river – with my dad. It’ll be our 6th annual remote canoe adventure. I’m still working as Associate General Counsel at the University of Toronto. Zahava Uddin Webster dusted off her Grade 12 French for two trips to Corsica this year and welcomed a new toy poodle, King Louis, into the family. Tara Sweerts de Landas (O’Carroll) – I got married in January to the love of my life, Baron Willem Sweerts de Landas, and became a stepmother to two amazing young men, Lodewijk and Maarten. We’re still living in sunny Saudi Arabia, and I’m continuing my work at the Public Investment Fund as an Advisor in Human Capital.

Nicole Fisher – I continue to lead the Victoria Holistic Death Care Community and have proudly been a Big Sister for five years to an amazing teen (now 16!) through Big Brothers Big Sisters (see photo). We recently returned from celebrating family birthdays with travels through Doha, Dubai, and Riyadh in the Middle East. Deborah Bassett Drysdale – Havergal College remains incredibly dear to me and my family. My daughter Hope just completed Grade 10 and had a fantastic year. She applied for exchange and was selected to spend a month in Buenos Aires. We hosted her exchange student for four weeks this winter. Hope embraced a new culture, was pushed out of her comfort zone, and made lifelong friendships. She came home wiser, more mature, and deeply enriched by the experience. While I continue to stay involved with the school, my days are now largely focused on supporting my aging parents.
