Alessandra Palombo has been busy working with the Central West Ontario Health Team to build a visiting-physician program for the housebound elderly. She’s excited to announce that her family has a new HC Gator, with daughter Lia beginning grade 7 with the Class of 2030 in the fall! Timothea (Timmie) Leung recently accepted a job in the City of Toronto’s Legal Services Division, in its Litigation Section. She has also joined the Board of Directors for the Jean Tweed Centre, which provides treatment, support and a safe place for women and their families. Timmie, Ty and their daughter Emme are excited to welcome a baby girl to their family in July 2024. Kelly Thompson Polci reduced hours at Sick Kids so she could dedicate more time to her perinatal therapy practice.

Cayleigh Warrack Murtaugh and her family have moved to Bracebridge, where they are enjoying life surrounded by nature! Nathalie Veg Harpell and her little family of 5 took the leap and left city life behind in 2022. They sold their house and bought a property in Northern Ontario and began their homesteading journey! It’s been a wild and rewarding ride so far and they are motivated and excited to become more and more self-sufficient. Candice Motran Hampson is married with two little kids aged 1 and 3, living just outside London in a small town called Princes Risborough in the UK. Aidan was born November 2022 and is driving them nuts but gives great “cuggles” (cuddles). Holly is turning three soon and full of personality and strong opinions! They are considering a move to the south coast to give the kids a beachy upbringing. Candice’s healthtech startup shut down this past summer and she has been enjoying freelance strategy consulting since.

Lisa McKeown continues to teach philosophy and is excited to begin the process of turning her dissertation into a book. Priya Mosur continues to live in Toronto and has recently overcome her fear of – and discovered her love of – improv! Since relocating to Nelson, B.C. last year, Sophie Kohn has been writing and teaching creative nonfiction and satire, parenting her very hilarious toddler Cooper, who’s 3, and happily exploring the forests, lakes, and Kootenay mountains. Her first kids’ book ‘Katrina Hyena’ will be published by Owlkids in the fall of 2024. It’s the story of a laughing hyena who laughs at the wrong times!

Christelle Harris Hann married an incredible man, Matthew Hann, in June 2023, and they’re expecting their first child in May 2024! Nicola S. Smith started a new job in 2023 as a biology professor at Concordia University in Montreal, QC. (It’s been fun practicing her French in the city). This summer will be her first field research season as a Principal Investigator. Nicola and her graduate students are currently examining the interactive effects of climate change and invasive species on Caribbean coral reefs, so lots of fun SCUBA diving ahead! She’s also building an extensive, self-contained, marine climate change system – complete with 75-gallon aquariums, remotely controlled water heaters, 50-pound nitrogen cylinders, and GoPro cameras – at a remote field station in the Bahamas. The system will allow her to manipulate water temperatures, dissolved oxygen levels, and pH to simulate future oceans under climate change. It’s going to be fantastic! Lots of cool science forthcoming!

Jennifer Singer Green lives between Zambia and Canada with her husband and two boys. They’re enjoying showing Zambia to visitors (including her whole family who came out in June!) and exploring Southern Africa when they have time. Yvonne Kai Anderson lives in Las Vegas and teaches at the local Charter school where her son goes to kindergarten! Alison Gollob Lowney lives in Toronto with husband and two daughters, who are 5 and 1 year old. Working as a designer of socks and shapewear for a Canadian company. Carrie Anderson had a big year full of fun life events: having her third daughter Stella, going on their first trip as a family of 5 and buying their dream cottage in Honey Harbour.

Megan Nuttall McCarrell is the Director of Professional Practice and Policy at the College of Midwives of Ontario. She recently launched a small business providing individual and corporate mediation, communication training, coaching, and conflict resolution services. She and her husband and three kids continue to enjoy their farm in Northumberland County, and recently travelled to Belize! Lindsay Knowlton has been busy running Iron Lady Golf – a company she founded 12 years ago. To date, they have had 25,000 women come to their community to learn, play and connect through golfing experiences, clinics, lessons and travel! On March 13th, 2024, Lindsay welcomed Penelope “Penny” Kent Stirling Knowlton. Growing up playing in golf tournaments, her dad (Kent) would kiss a lucky Penny and put it in her pocket for good luck. Now, little Penny carries on that tradition as her new lucky charm, reminding her of him.

Meenal Agarwal launched a podcast In April called “Uncover Your Eyes” with Dr. Meenal on Apple, Spotify and YouTube. Samantha Irwin welcomed baby number two, Ryder – 12/28/2022. They moved to Austin, and she started working at UT Austin. They are about to buy their first house. Heena Patel is all about nervous system healing and brings that work into her practice as a business and life coach while she roots deeper into her mountain town of Asheville, NC.
Jennifer Sceviour had her first baby in her 40th year!

Last year, Kieran Bergmann Powers became certified as a Grief & Trauma Coach and she now supports families who are navigating pregnancy & infant loss, premature birth, the NICU, and medical parenting, through her business, Becoln. Becoln is named for two of her sons, Beckett, who passed away shortly after he was born and Lincoln, who was born extremely prematurely. Lincoln is now 6 and thriving alongside his 2-year-old brother, Remy, who was born via surrogacy. Kieran draws on her personal experience and over a decade working in healthcare to help families find their beacons of light in the darkness of their journeys.

Ness Kenalty is still working at Waltons Trust, a limited life Canadian Grant-making foundation. Over the past year, she’s been busy growing their portfolio focused on reducing excessive and harmful screentime for children and youth. Zoey (9) has discovered hockey this year and is obsessed, and Rex (7) is happiest playing with his buddies in aftercare. Nadine Straka will continue her work as a Pediatric Intensive Care physician but in the Pacific Northwest! She accepted a new job at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, where she will be moving with her family, Jeff (husband), Kilian (son), and Lewin (daughter), from their current home in Boston.

Katharine Stoate is getting married to the love of her life on 4-24-24 on a gorgeous farm in Louisville, Kentucky. Courtney Ashton works in private equity and infrastructure investing at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and has two daughters in the Junior School. Over the past year, Caitlin Harrigan’s family grew to include William, who joins his big sister Elise. She continues to enjoy her role as a Senior Manager at the Toronto Region and Conservation Authority (TRCA) working with a dedicated team on environmental engineering and restoration projects that make a difference in our community. She’s recently back into playing the piano and has taken up French lessons to hopefully employ in future travels abroad with family!

Niki Tapscott started as CMO at Knix in April, joining fellow 2001 alum, Joanna Griffiths. Natalie Reisman continues to work to build affordable rental housing in the GTAA+ and was named one of the Urban Land Institute’s 2023 Women’s Leadership Champions. She is planning a hike through the Azores for this summer while her three kids are at overnight camp simultaneously for the first time! In addition to running her private mediation practice, Alex Bittner Howard is also the co-host of her divorce podcast, Dirty Laundry. Outside of work, she is running her first trail race this summer! Alex is currently living in Toronto with her husband and two kids, 10 & 12, and border collie.

Two years ago, Nasiya Misick was appointed to a senior position within the Turks and Caicos Islands Government as Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, Investment and Trade. However, her most exciting news is that her daughter Danyella Smith has joined the Havergal Community and will be a graduate of the class of 2025! Legacies are important and she is so proud and happy that Danyella will continue this tradition for the Misick family and represent the Turks and Caicos Islands at such an esteemed learning institution! Nina Mafrici is excited to give back to the school as a new member of the Havergal Board of Governors. Additionally, her clinic launched TPWG+MD, which houses the province’s first comprehensive Outpatient Eating Disorders Program offering physician and medical care for children, teens and adults.

Jenna Shelley launched an online art gallery (beheld.ca) that connects families with independent artists & unique artwork for their kids’ spaces! Art your kids won’t outgrow. Currently living in Toronto with husband and two young sons. Jessica Galati Diamond is pleased to share that she launched Diamond Education Consulting last fall, embarking on her journey as an education consultant. Alongside her work, she finds joy in spending time with her family and fellow old girl friends. Recently, Jessica has spearheaded the first carnival at her daughter’s school and has helped organize the first gala fundraiser for infertility in the city. Her focus remains on making a positive impact on those around her, both personally and professionally. After spending 4 years running a global IT team at Dexcom in San Diego,

Caroline Goodman Marcil is retiring with her husband Richard and motorcycling around the world. Cynthia Kassabian is Director at RPIA – Boutique Fixed Income Hedge Fund- and expecting her 2nd Son June 2024. Leen Al Zaibak is thrilled to announce the early arrival of her son Jude! Though he came nearly two months ahead of schedule, both baby and mom are doing well. Feeling incredibly blessed and grateful for this precious addition to our family.

In October 2023, we celebrated our 20th reunion! It was wonderful to reconnect with so many classmates and celebrate together at Havergal. Special thanks to Jessica (last name) for hosting the party! In other news, Anna McMeekin Morrison continues to live in Toronto with her family. She welcomed her third child, Sydney, last year! Elizabeth “Lizzie” Mingay Clare lives in Toronto and continues to grow her naturopathic practice as an owner of multi-disciplinary clinic, Bridge Health, located at Yonge and St. Clair. She and her husband taught their 2-year-old, Theo, how to ski this winter, which he loves. Hilary Young Riley started a new job as the Director of Admissions at The York School and moved to midtown Toronto with her three young boys, Cameron, Colin and Liam.

After spending 5 years living in British Columbia, Jacqueline Young moved back to Ontario with her family; they will miss the mountains, ocean and cherry blossoms but look forward to reconnecting with family and friends. Jacquelyn Simon and her partner welcomed a rescue pup into their home this year. His name is Charles D’Artagnon and at 11 months old he weighs 90 pounds – a big snuggly boy! Jessica Pezim Coles continues to live and work in Toronto. She joined the HOGA Directorate this year and enjoyed reconnecting with other Old Girls at the 20th reunion in October. She is looking forward to welcoming her third child in the spring of 2024.

Julia Freeman welcomed her third child in September 2023 and finally got the courage to quit her corporate job to pursue her entrepreneurial dream. She started a home goods business, Droplet Home Goods, and is consulting for female-founders in eCommerce and Digital Marketing. Kosha Nathwani Longfellow is a Family Medicine Physician living in Carlsbad, California. She has two boys, 5 and 2, and welcomed her third son, Rowan, in February 2024. Lauren Saville welcomed her second child, a son, Kanan Young, on October 28, 2023. Leah Dietrich recently went to Colombia for her brother’s wedding and just finished a stand-up comedy course.

Lisa Garard continues to enjoy her career in education; she is passionate about getting involved with student health and wellbeing initiatives and was most recently teaching Grade 3/4. She welcomed her second son, Logan, and big brother Mason just turned 3; she’s currently living her best “Boy Mom” life. Megan Joyner Dell is a mom of two, a Certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer living in Squamish, BC. Through her business, Get Fit with Megan, she offers virtual and in-person fitness and lifestyle coaching to help women feel vibrant, strong, and confident. Kate Plummer started a new role as Director of Sales at HPG, a promotional products company. Romaana Shariff is proud to now own and operate her law firm Shariff & Associates in Stouffville specializing in family law, real estate, criminal and estate litigation.

Stephanie Applin started a new role as Director of Advancement with Tapestry Opera and enjoys cycling in warmer weather. Cicely Arthur is still living in Oxford, UK with husband, Stuart and their adventurous Maine Coon, Toby. Cicely is currently working on a doctorate in child psychotherapy and enjoying travelling, triathlon & cold-water swimming in her free time! 2023 was a big year for Courtney Clinton: her son Sam Alfred Darabi was born in late summer, and she exhibited a new art project, Post-Monumental, at the BBAM! Gallery in Montreal (January) and at the Artist Project in Toronto (April). From February to October, she was artist in residence at the Centre d’histoire de Saint-Hyacinthe during which she created a video-mapping project that was presented in-situ at the Monastere du Precieux-Sang, Saint-Hyacinthe. The real highlight of the year was spending a month in Toronto, as she reconnected with some dear HC friends and spent quality time with them. It was the best!

Gemma Oberth and her son Arthur relocated to Havana, Cuba in October 2023 when her husband, Leon, was deployed there for military training. Her family is enjoying the nine-month adventure before heading back to Cape Town. Sarah Pantelidis Selke enjoys spending time with her three girls, all Havergalians as of this year, balancing this with her clinical work focusing on complex conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and long COVID. Thanks to her daughters’ extracurricular activities she’s also rediscovering her love of skiing and playing the harp. Sarah Cheesbrough Edelberg is having fun navigating the world of consumer financing solutions at Flexiti. She and her husband welcomed a baby boy in February, joining his big sister to complete the family.

Laura Stanley gave birth to a daughter, Alexandra. Julie Stewart-Binks is living and working in New York City as a sports broadcaster; working on her golf game; and continuing to bolster her karaoke skills. She will be back in Canada this summer working as a host for CBC’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Adelaide Calbry-Muzyka is still living in Switzerland, but last summer visited her parents in Nova Scotia, stopping in Halifax so Wyanne Tsang’s toddler, Oliver, and hers, Heloise, could have a playdate. They had lots of fun arguing over whose turn on the slide it was.

Last year Laura Cheung was lucky enough to visit family and friends in Toronto, Hong Kong and London (including a catch up over Christmas with fellow alums Victoria Leung, Kate Amato, Anna Robinson and Michelle Young) then returned to work this January after her second maternity leave – which has been an adjustment! Julia Sheldon has just launched her first week-long summer camp for teens! Check it out at connectioncamp.org – she is so excited and would love your support in making this camp a success. You can find her @askauntiejulia – she’s a Sex and Relationship Educator for Teens and Millennials. She has group programs and works one-on-one to help folks with boundaries, communication, leaving relationships, starting relationships, and shifting patterns. Julia lives in Guelph with her partner and their Australian Shepherd/Husky. They love to throw axes, geek out about Marvel, and check out the Toronto theatre scene. Please do reach out – she loves connecting! Dasha Peregoudova made partner at Aird & Berlis and was named and won a 2023 Precedent Setter Award. More recently, she was named an Emerging Leader by the Peak in the legal category.

In the last year, Ola Jacunski has seen much success writing and publishing under her pen name, Aleksandra Hill. Her short story “Galaxy Girl and the November Monstrosity”, a superhero family drama, was published in Uncharted Magazine and read on the LeVar Burton Reads podcast. “Secondhand Music”, a near-future sci fi about a disabled musician and the AI-powered prosthetic she receives from a mysterious benefactor, was published in Analog Magazine. Lastly, khōréō magazine, which Ola founded in 2020, and which publishes speculative fiction by immigrant and diaspora writers, has been nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine for the second year in a row. She’s currently querying her first novel and working on another. Marissa Kirsh made partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.

Ann Kwon is excited to share that she welcomed a daughter in August 2023. As for her career, she is still working as a pathologist in Washington, D.C., a medical profession in the diagnostic field. Alison Little welcomed a baby girl (Lydia) into the family. Big sister Eloise is a huge fan. Otherwise continuing to work as a veterinary neurologist in Toronto and spending her free time exploring green spaces with her family. Taylor Stocks performed for the second time on the main stage of the National Arts Centre as drag king Dr. Androbox, having won the title of Mr. Capital Pride 2022. They are currently in the last year of their PhD, studying intersections of 2sLGBTQ+ school policy and queer/trans student activism.

Class of 2008

The class of 2008 have been very busy in the last year, both in Canada and further afield. In the Toronto area, Carly Greene recently opened a paediatric dental office called “Brite Bite Kids Dental & Orthodontics” located at Bathurst and Sheppard. Marlies Farrill, also living in Toronto, recently completed her MBA from Smith School of Business, is a happy divorcee and is working these days at Pinterest. Finally, Carolyn Gooderham successfully completed her first half marathon last year, raising money for cancer research in memory of her brother Fraser. Julia Duchesne married Eva Holland in Dawson City, Yukon in July 2023. She is now a Senior Communications Advisor for the Government of Yukon, Protective Services Division, working on floods, wildfires and other emergencies.

Kayla Best is living in Australia. She worked as the Assistant Coach and Goaltending Coach for the U18 Australian Women’s National Hockey Team, competing in Division 1B of the IIHF World Championships. The team beat South Korea, picking up Australia’s first ever win at this level and finishing 4th overall! In the USA, Olympia Kiriakou has finished writing her second book, a biography of the classical Hollywood actress Virginia Grey, which will be published in 2025. She is also keeping busy with guest appearances at the Turner Classic Movie Film Festival in Los Angeles and a screwball comedy festival in Palm Springs. Also in the States, Corinne Guirgis relocated to Los Angeles during the pandemic to be closer to her family. She has become the proud “Cool Aunt” to two beautiful boys, and she is now a senior marketing strategist who helped her agency in Canada expand into the US. She is deeply passionate about applying her expertise towards helping musicians, artists and entrepreneurial trailblazers develop their brands online while staying true and authentic to who they are. After spending so much time in creative spaces, Corinne recently discovered that she can both paint and write music herself- and has recently come back from a life changing women’s creative wellness retreat to Bali where she continues to explore the intersection of wellness and creative expression with the hope of helping others tap into the same personal growth and healing, she is experiencing in that space.

Finally, Caroline Reiss had her third baby in January, a baby named Isaac who joined big brothers Ezra and Felix, and Alexandra Rolland welcomed twins in the spring of 2023, her 2nd and 3rd children with her wife Hollie. They live in the UK but visit Toronto often. Many other grads of ’08 have also welcomed new babies, many as first time parents, in the last year and we wish them all the very best with their new little ones.
