The Ripple
effect
Walking through our halls, on the field or into a classroom, I am reminded how learning at Havergal goes far beyond academics. It shapes who our students are becoming. Every conversation, every challenge and every moment of connection between students and teachers help them grow, building the skills, values and confidence they carry into the world. These experiences do not just shape their present, but they also ripple outward, influencing the future in ways both seen and unseen.
At Havergal, our focus is on helping students understand themselves, connect meaningfully with others and take purposeful action in the world. From Grade 12 students exploring their strengths through the Core Strengths Development Index to younger students tackling challenges together in the Junior School, our community encourages curiosity, resilience and reflection. These experiences don’t just prepare our students for what comes next — they also shape the culture, character and vibrancy of Havergal today.
It’s inspiring to see how this approach translates into leadership, mentorship and service. Our girls step forward in countless ways: supporting younger peers, leading initiatives or standing up for causes that matter to them. This commitment to growth and making a difference is at the heart of what we call the “Havergal Difference Maker,” and it’s a legacy that many Old Girls/Alums will recognize from their own experiences here.
The generosity and engagement of our community make this possible. From the support of donors to the guidance of families and the enthusiasm of Old Girls/Alums, every contribution helps open doors, create opportunities and extend the reach of a Havergal education. The ripple of that impact continues to grow, touching generations of students and strengthening the bonds across our extended community.
To our Old Girls/Alums, families and friends: thank you for the ways you continue to support, champion and inspire. Your involvement ensures that Havergal remains a place where young women are equipped not only to succeed, but also to make a meaningful difference in the world.
With gratitude,
Dr. Katrina Samson
Principal, Havergal College
